What is a home warranty?

A home warranty is an annual service agreement that helps cover the cost to repair or replace the appliances and systems that are used every day — items that homeowners insurance typically doesn’t cover. And with Cinch’s Bring Your Own Pro plan, homeowners can choose any licensed service pro to get the job done.

Here's how Bring Your Own Pro works

When a breakdown happens, call (844) 439-2636 and follow these three steps.

Start request

Call us to confirm that the item needing service is covered. We’ll go over the next steps, and then you can schedule the licensed service pro of your choice to diagnose the issue.

Get approval

Call us back with the diagnosis before the service pro does any work. We’ll verify coverage and the amount we’ll pay. Then you can proceed with the repair.

Get Payment

Once the repair is complete, call us back, and we’ll gather the info needed to pay the covered portion. You are responsible for paying a $100 deductible and any amounts we do not cover.

Frequently asked questions

Is it worth it to have a home warranty?

Unlike homeowners insurance, a home warranty helps cover the cost of repairing or replacing major appliances or systems in your home. Whether you’re dealing with problems caused by normal wear and tear or a surprise breakdown, a home warranty could cover hundreds to thousands of dollars of expenses.

What if my appliances and systems are old?

It doesn't matter how old your covered items are. If they are in good working order when your home warranty goes into effect, you're covered. For complete details, see the General Exclusions and Limitations section of the sample terms and conditions.

When does coverage begin?

For home buyers, coverage typically begins the day of closing and expires one year later (which you can renew for future years). Your plan documents will include this information.

What do I do when something breaks down?

To start a service request for your issue, call (844) 439-2636 or visit my.cinchhomeservices.com before contacting your service provider.

How do I know if my issue will be covered?

After we confirm the item is covered and we receive a diagnosis from your service provider, we'll review the details of what's covered with you. Like all service plans, limitations apply. Please review your terms and conditions for more details.

What happens after my issue is diagnosed?

Before your service pro does any work, call us with the diagnosis on your covered item. We’ll verify coverage and the amount we’ll pay. Then you can proceed with the repair. Once the repair is complete, call us back, and we’ll gather the info needed to pay the covered portion. You are responsible for paying a $100 deductible and any amounts we do not cover.

What is a deductible?

Similar to an insurance deductible, this is the amount you are responsible for covering. A deductible applies to each service request. It pays for your share of the repair or replacement cost (not including any non-covered charges or amounts over cap limits that you are responsible for, if any).

Are there limits to what is covered?

There are coverage limits per item as well as limits based on the type of repair or replacement. The reimbursement amount for covered repairs or replacements is based on industry standard install labor hours and our determination of fair market labor, equipment, and/or parts, subject to the limitations and exclusions stated in the service agreement. Non-covered charges may apply.

How do I enroll in a Cinch Bring Your Own Pro home warranty?
